Overview

Hi, I’m Maddy (she/her). I live and work in Naarm/Melbourne on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people. I am a white, cis, able-bodied and neurotypical woman. I am also a clinical psychologist. I currently work with teens and adults aged 16+ regarding experiences including anxiety, mood, identity, gender, neurotype, life transitions, grief and relationships. My areas of expertise include supporting neurodivergent folk (particularly autistic people and ADHDers) to identify and understand their neurotype, as well as to build self-compassion and acceptance, communicate their experiences and needs to others, access accommodations and supports, and manage stress or burn out. Outside of the Therapy Hub, I also work at the Royal Children’s Hospital Gender Service and have significant experience working with trans and gender diverse young people to socially, legally and medically affirm their gender, or just to talk through their experiences. I am passionate about social justice and providing inclusive, anti-oppressive mental health care. I work from the social model of disability, which means that I recognise there is nothing inherently wrong with you, and that disability arises from barriers in society, such as a lack of accommodations and discrimination. I understand that my privileges leave me with biases that I am continually working to understand and dismantle, which I do so by listening to lived experiences voices. I draw on therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Schema Therapy. I work from an identity-affirming approach, which means I celebrate the natural diversity of the human experience, and always believe, listen and strive to understand your unique identity and experiences without pathologising them. I hope to support you to live your most authentic life. My therapeutic approach is warm, honest, authentic, collaborative and playful. Anything that makes you feel safe and helps you to unmask is welcome and encouraged in session (e.g. stimming, Telehealth/camera off, using fidget tools, sensory adjustments). The services I offer are include: - Psychological counselling/therapy for individuals aged 16+ - Neurodiversity-affirming autism and ADHD assessments for adults 18+ - WPATH assessments
