Overview

Yu Teng is a caring and empathetic clinical psychologist who has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and adults. She recognises each client’s unique personhood and values supporting them to build meaningful and enriching lives. She believes in creating a safe space for clients to facilitate reflection and learning of strategies to better manage life challenges. Her approach is collaborative in tailoring evidence-based therapy to each client. Yu Teng assists clients with a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, perfectionism, adjustment to life transitions, autism and ADHD, interpersonal difficulties, and gambling harm. She has significant experience in delivering child therapy for anxiety, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and parent management training. She uses a cognitive-behaviour therapy framework and draws upon other modalities including acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, and schema therapy. Her clinical practice is informed by her work at UNSW providing Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for children displaying oppositional defiance and conduct problems.
