I have been a practicing Social Worker since 2006 and have found a real passion for supporting people who are struggling to cope with what life can throw at you. I focus on helping individuals to develop the necessary coping skills to address any issue that they may be facing in life. I specialize in providing supportive counselling to adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, grief and loss, health issues, suicidal ideation, chronic pain and stress. I also became a Designated Capacity Assessor in 2014 and conduct assessments on adults who exhibit a lack of understanding in their decision making.
I believe in working from a holistic approach when it comes to ones health and is the key to maintaining a balanced and health life. I currently use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-Based Interventions within my practice. I believe patients have a right to their own autonomy and that they are the experts on their own lives. This means I will work with patients on their goals as they see them. It is important for individuals to maintain a sense of control over their own lives and it will empower them to move through their issues and come out the other side with as sense of purpose and strength they might not have known they had.
