Relationship Therapy
I am trained in the Gottman Method which is a relationship therapy backed by decades of research. The Gottman Method aims to enhance intimacy and friendship, handle conflicts effectively, and create a shared meaningful life. It tailors research principles to each couple's unique patterns and challenges, I have also completed training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples.
Emotionally focused couples therapy can be helpful for couples who are dealing with expression of emotions and understanding emotions the way they are expressed. Couples get stuck in hurtful relationship conflict cycles for some time which causes damage. The cycle might have caused one person to completely shut down, or the other person to become anxious and to seek frantically to repair emotional wounds and ruptures. They both might feel really hurt and wonder if their relationship can ever be restored. EFT helps to improve communication and manage conflict in a healthier way. It helps couples identify and to stop their repeated cycles of conflict.
Neurodiversity in Relationships
I frequently see couples where aspects of neurodiversity impact on the relationship. Neurodiversity encompasses the natural variations in neurological differences found in everyone identified as neurodivergent.
I work with couples to help them to understand and work with the differences in their relationship, in order to improve communication and emotional connection.

Garrick or “G” as he prefers to be called is a married devoted father to two young boys in his early 40s and enjoys good food and socialising with family and friends as regularly as possible. G is a general registered psychologist with over 10 years’ experience across corporate, clinical, government and non-profit environments both locally and globally and draws upon his skills and experience to make a positive difference in the lives of people and more specifically men engaging in therapy.
In his final year of high school in Africa, G realised after sustaining an injury that he may not make it as professional rugby player. Around the same time, G considering career options, was exposed to an organisational psychologist as part of an assessment centre for an entry level role with a global accounting firm. A subsequent assessment allowed him to gain some much-needed career guidance and directed him towards psychology. That journey brought him to Australia, where he commenced his studies in psychology. His career began supporting and working with people with complex lived experience of mental health within the community, before moving into occupational rehabilitation and then into the realm of corporations providing performance coaching and well-being support.
Not one to sit idle G also provides clinical and critical incident support and services as required and will soon be an accredited psychology supervisor. G believes mentoring future psychologists to be important to give back to the profession as they gain their registration and enter the workforce given the demands and challenges people are faced with in today’s world, more so than ever.
G’s ongoing commitment to continuous and never-ending improvement has also led him to enrol in a Master in Organisational Psychology with a current research project being undertaken. Whilst he also provides some of his experience as an advisory member of education initiative in South Africa and alumni task force for suicide and self-harm amongst his alma mater in Zimbabwe.

I enjoy helping both adolescent and adult clients discover there is an alternative to the life of distress and discomfort quite often being experienced in the lead up to engaging with mental health support. I work with people who are experiencing low mood and/or low motivation, difficulties adjusting, stress, anger, confusion or worry, to empower them to discover their strengths whilst developing insight into their presentation.
I help clients over a short/medium term basis (longer if required) to discover tools/strategies that unlock their ability to formulate goals, move closer to their dreams and live a fulfilling life. Techniques I enjoy using across the therapy journey are: Acceptance and commitment therapy, Cognitive behavioural therapy and Motivational interviewing.
Together, we will explore your past experiences, what has and hasn’t worked for you, and hone in on what might help you on the adventure ahead. I see clients for a broad range of presentations, including: depression, anxiety, grief, difficulties with drugs and/or alcohol, trauma, stress management, life transitions, gender/identity, and more.

The top inspiration and commitment for my work is the clients’ courage to acknowledge their struggles and seek professional help to face them.
I see therapy as an empowering collaborative process where the client has the leading voice in setting treatment goals and evaluating the intervention progress. I recognise that clients are unique, and their difficulties cannot be reduced to a generic diagnosis. Instead, my interventions are tailored, respecting the integrity of each client, and adopting a holistic, strengths-based, and encouraging approach.
I strive to help clients to gain greater insight into their lives to understand and overcome their presenting issues, develop their self-confidence, and make meaningful changes in their lives. It is an incredible privilege to have the chance to influence and witness the clients’ healing and personal development.
I provide psychological services in both English and Spanish.
I completed a Bachelor of Science, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology Advanced, a Master of Professional Psychology and a Master of Professional Psychology Practice.
I am registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
