Merendi Leverett is one of Brisbane’s most trusted and experienced Accredited Exercise Physiologists, with over 25 years of expertise in occupational rehabilitation, early intervention, injury management, chronic disease management, aged care and health education. As a passionate health professional, she is known for her ethical, empathetic, and results-driven approach to client care.
Merendi holds a Bachelor of Human Movement Science from Central Queensland University (1998) and a Graduate Diploma of Health Science (Exercise Rehabilitation) from QUT (2000). She has further qualifications, including a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and a Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety, supporting her strong background in health education, injury prevention, and corporate wellness.
With 20+ years in private practice, Merendi specialises in managing complex conditions such as chronic injuries, chronic fatigue, rheumatologic disorders, cancer, and women's health (all stages from preconception to menopause). She designs individualised exercise programs tailored to individual fitness levels, focusing on enhancing functional capacity, improving quality of life, and achieving sustainable health outcomes. Her structured yet vibrant approach keeps clients motivated, engaged, and empowered throughout their health journey.
Merendi’s extensive occupational rehabilitation work includes developing goal-oriented return-to-work plans for self-insured companies and providing consultancy services in injury prevention and early intervention. She is a qualified Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator (Q-Comp) and has worked under all Worker's Compensation Schemes throughout Australia.
As a passionate health educator, Merendi has delivered numerous preventative health programs, such as Reset Your Life, HEAL, and My Health for Life, and corporate wellness workshops and community seminars. She’s been a regular guest speaker at health conferences and expos, presenting on topics like pregnancy and exercise, post-natal exercise, cancer management, diabetes management, and injury rehabilitation.
Merendi’s expertise extends to writing. She has contributed health articles to national publications, including the Herald Sun and Weight Watchers, and co-authored the book Therapeutic Physical Activities, which includes a chapter on managing low back pain through exercise. She also wrote an eBook titled How Exercise Can Assist in the Management of Chronic Diseases.
On a personal note, Merendi is a dedicated mother. Her experiences with pregnancy and motherhood have shaped her specialist interest in pre- and post-natal exercise. She understands women's unique health needs and creates flexible, practical programs tailored to busy family lives. Now that Merendi is entering the premenopause era, she is even more passionate about supporting fellow women in exercising efficiently and effectively to manage their menopausal symptoms.
