Overview

I am a caring and compassionate psychologist who works with children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. I provide interventions for a wide range of psychological issues including adjustment disorder, anxiety, depression, stress, phobias, life transitions, identity and self-esteem issues, relationships, cross-cultural issues, and work-related issues. I also provide career coaching and career planning, pre-marriage and post-marriage counselling, parenting advice, and Christian counselling. I deal with mental health conditions in a culturally sensitive manner. I am supportive, empathetic, patient and respectful. I am highly experienced in treating people from various backgrounds, including culturally and linguistically diverse individuals across the lifespan. In recognising the unique challenges faced by individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, I am committed to providing culturally sensitive and language-accessible mental health care. With fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese, I strive to bridge language barriers and ensure effective communication with clients who may feel more comfortable expressing themselves in their native language. I also conduct psychometric tests and assessments for children (aged 7 and up), adolescents, adults, as well as people with neurodevelopmental disorders. In addition, I also offer comprehensive report-writing services. My experience includes writing reports for cognitive assessments, and immigration purposes, as well as reports to support applications for Centrelink payments and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). I am driven by a strong desire to help others and make a difference. My clients trust me with their personal stories, knowing that their voices will be heard with undivided attention. I am calm, gentle and understanding. I see therapy as a great honour and privilege and am humbled each time a client shares their vulnerabilities with me. I do not take any of it for granted; I deeply value each client’s trust and treat them with the utmost respect. I provide a safe and non-judgemental environment for my clients. I work collaboratively with them to create a personalised treatment plan that meets their individual needs and goals. I aim to help my clients gain strength and freedom from their pain and struggles, as well as find hope, meaning and purpose in their lives. I take a flexible and integrative approach, using different techniques and interventions to suit the needs and preferences of each client. I draw from a wide range of interventions, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and compassion-focused therapy. I also often use psychoeducation, supportive counselling, positive psychology, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy. To ensure accessibility for those in need, I offer bulk billing services to Centrelink concession card, pension card, and Senior card holders. Additionally, I provide subsidised fee services to low-income earners and students without a Centrelink concession card. For private fee-paying clients and couples, I offer reasonable fees to accommodate their needs. Individuals with a Mental Health Care Plan issued by a GP can access a Medicare rebate. Additionally, there is also the option of obtaining a private insurance rebate. One of my favourite quotes is by Reinhold Niebuhr, “Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
