Giselle is a Counselling Psychologist and holds a Master of Psychology (Counselling Psychology). She is also an Accredited Practitioner of EMDR, as per the EMDR Association of Australia.
Giselle has significant experience working with diverse groups of people within different clinical and community settings, including veterans and their families, mature adults, children and adolescents, refugees, and the LGBTIQA+ community. Giselle has worked within the Department of Veteran Affairs, not-for-profit organisations, schools, community clinics, the criminal justice system, aged care, and hospice/palliative settings.
Giselle uses an integrative and evidence-based counselling approach, utilising therapeutic modalities such as: Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Prolonged Exposure/Exposure Therapy, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MBCT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Existential Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
Giselle has a holistic and client-empowered approach to assist clients in enacting lasting change within their lives. Giselle works to empower her clients to be independent and self-sufficient to encourage healthy space from therapy as appropriate. Giselle prefers to work intensively with clients to address the underlying causes of symptoms to then promote a gradual and supported graduation from the episode of care for the client. Giselle works collaboratively with her clients and it is an expectation that clients engaging are committed to regular attendance at therapy sessions and prioritise their mental health recovery.
