Abana is a bilingual Speech Pathologist who graduated from James Cook University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology with Honours. She is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist. Abana has several years clinical experience working with children with various communication, learning and feeding difficulties across community and school settings. She has specific experience and interest in early intervention and literacy intervention (reading and spelling). She is certified in literacy programs Sounds Write and SMART spelling. Abana believes in provision of evidence-based practice and is dedicated to ongoing professional development. Abana is also passionate about empowering parents and is certified in and offers Hanen parental training programs to parents of late talkers and those with children on the Autism Spectrum or with social communication difficulties. She enjoys working together with each individual and their family in a holistic, person-centred way to support them to achieve their goals and help maximise their quality of life. Abana believes that it takes a community to raise a child and that when we work together, we achieve the best results. When not at work, Abana enjoys shopping, travel, socialising, reading and dancing.
Medicare (EPC) referrals welcome. Self-managed and plan managed NDIS clients are also welcome. Fees are expected on the day of the service.
