Laura is an experienced therapist supporting individuals, families and couples with a background in Occupational Therapy. Laura is registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and is currently in the process of acquiring her registration with the Australian Association of Family Therapy (AAFT).
Laura is a registered Medicare provider with over 20 years’ experience working in a professional capacity with children and adults in various mental health, disability, and educational settings. She is passionate about supporting the quality of future therapists and continues to enjoy her role as a sessional academic with Curtin University supervising students during the work placement component of their studies. Laura is committed to maintaining a skill set that is valued and current and is presently in the process of completing further training to support clients experiencing significant stress as a result of trauma. She genuinely enjoys working with and supporting adults and young people of all ages and stages of development work towards their goals to aid recovery, functioning and independence.
With an aim to provide a quality, professional and accessible service where clients feel safe and heard, Laura will listen to your unique life story and help you clarify the issues, explore options, and develop strategies that will assist you on your journey to nurturing a happier and healthier mind. Laura adopts an eclectic approach to counselling incorporating many contemporary models, which include Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness and Solution-Focused Therapy to meet specific needs and address areas of difficulty.
