Hi, I am Sheyan! I have experience working across private practice and school settings providing both assessments and counselling. Firstly, one of my biggest passions are psychological assessments. In clinical practice, you would likely find me exploring the underlying causes of why someone has difficulty learning, staying focused or making friends. I have experience in assessing Autism, ADHD and Specific Learning Difficulties in both children and adults. I am deeply passionate about working with Sri Lankan/South Asian Men and Neurodiverse Individuals (being a Sri Lankan ADHDer myself!). I can assist with clients experiencing depression, anxiety and anger issues. I also enjoy supporting clients through life transitions and grief (bereavement and separation), as well as working with postnatal depression and assisting with relationship challenges. Therapeutically, I take a human-first, collaborative and exploratory approach. I thrive in understanding where patterns of behaviour emerge from. You are already the expert in your own life and it is my job is help provide you with the tools you need to meet your goals. My counselling sessions utilise elements of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Schema Therapy. I enjoy providing assessments to individuals aged 6+ years old and counselling services to individuals aged 18+. In my free time I will likely be walking my dog, at the gym, or hyperfocusing on a Playstation game (currently God of War: Ragnarök).
