Psychotherapist Gary has an incredibly diverse background in Communication, Behavior and Human connection. Gained through lived, life and work experience. He has stood in the shoes of sufferers of Mental illness and now gives back ... He has a multi multidisciplinary background with experience as a psychotherapist, coach, mentor in both government and private sectors. Including Accounting, Business, finance, marketing. However he remains humble Gary has completed studies at the University of Southern Queensland in the area of Mental Health with a Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and counselling specialising in Mental Health practices. He also has masters degrees in Management ( MBA) , A Strategic Marketing Masters and has higher degrees in Information Communications ad Technology ( ICT ) He has presented and published papers in areas of Psychotherapy, Management and Virtual team management. He is currently completing higher degree studies and Monash University with a Masters in Psychotherapy due for completion October 2020. Gary is extremely creative in his approach with modalities such as Art therapy, cognitive Behavior therapy, Humanistic and behavioural therapies. Gary is an accomplished singer who knows all the wiggles songs. He is a father of two grown-up children and has experience in bringing out a smile in all he meets He uses mindfulness and meditation. He has facilitated group training and is interested in working with both the client and the family units whether it be 1 on 1, group, couples in support groups and Psychoeducation. He has also published and presented papers in several areas including Clinical supervision He has his own popular Podcast “ the counselling Guy “. He is currently writing a manual for carers of those with mental health issues to help them drive the bus that is caring and also a psycho-thriller just for fun … He is a keen runner and loves nothing more than chilling to music over coffee near his home at the beach. Gary was awarded the Prestigious Deans Merit award for outstanding performance in 2013 for his work and Studies at Wollongong University Gary also presented as a special guest speaker for Reach out International in the prestigious Wold Forum on Mental Health held in July 2020. Which was viewed by a worldwide audience Gary has experience with a diverse group including Families, Individuals, Adults, Adolescents, and children. He has also worked with NDIS with Children and adolescents with ASD, ADHD, ODD, GDD and other neurological disorders. Working with a range of Presentations from Anxiety to depression, OCD, Bipolar and others. Having a long career spanning 30 years in corporate, government ( ATO), and other ventures Gary understands humans, culture ad diversity speaking 3 languages including Human. Gary is passionate, grounded, caring and walks alongside his clients and helps them rediscover life and helps them grow. He does not play with labels and prefers to treat the human condition and not the medical model it may be attached to Additionally, he has appeared in the media in interviews with ABC life , He has 2 cats Ollie and Pippa and loves Almond lattes …is a keen runner, writer and empathic to all he meets.
