Your Approach to Counselling/Methodology: My approach to counselling is client directed and is dependent on your needs and goals. I can be very practical and solution focussed or more responsive, caring and empathic depending on what you determine your needs are at initial assessment. I have a keen interest in working with couples and families as I believe that good relationships can be central to psychological and physical wellbeing. I have been involved in quite extensive research and education with some of the most advanced specialists in this field and we developed relationship and family counselling as an integral part of a pain management program as we found this could have more impact on the rehabilitation of somebody’s injury than working with the client alone. Areas of Specialisation, if any: Pain management Addiction management Anger, Depression and Anxiety management Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (mostly within defence and police) I am particularly passionate and committed to assisting couples develop skills and the necessary resilience to tackle life problems. Presentations you do not want/or clients you would prefer not to see: I like challenging presentations, particularly given my forensic background. Any other information relevant to the way you practice: I have a special interest in sexual intimacy, trust, conflict and communication issues. My warm, caring approach and respectful non-judgemental manner helps provide a trusting, safe and collaborative environment to do this. I utilise cognitive- behavioural therapy, solution focussed therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and some components of positive psychology.
