Anja is currently accepting new referrals. Anja is a Senior Clinical Psychologist at MCPC who has over 10 years of experience working with children and their families across a wide range of settings. She has worked in early intervention services, community health, tertiary mental health settings, educational settings, and in private practice. Anja has worked with a wide range of clinical presentations across childhood, from the preschool years through to adolescence. She has extensive experience in working with children that have neurodevelopmental concerns (e.g., Autism, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Learning Difficulties). She has also worked with children and young people presenting with complex emotional and behavioural concerns. Anja also has a special interest in infant mental health and supporting parents during the perinatal period and early parenting years to navigate the transition to parenthood and manage the challenges and adjustments that are part of this vital life stage.

Georgina is a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Founder of MCPC Ivanhoe. She has over 20 years experience, completing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Child, Adolescent and Family Specialisation) at the University of Melbourne in 2004. Since completing her doctorate, Dr Swinburne has undertaken additional study at the Bouverie Family Centre in Clinical Family Therapy and views parent and family work as an integral part of many interventions. Dr Swinburne aims to work from a transparent and collaborative model involving parents/carers so that everyone can actively work together to support the child. Dr Swinburne has worked in various settings including The Royal Children’s Hospital Psychology Department, The Royal Children’s Hospital Child & Mental Health Service, The Austin Hospital Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service, and Take-Two Berrystreet. Dr Swinburne has extensive experience in assessing and treating a range of issues in children and young people including anxiety, mood disorders, behavioural difficulties, body-image and emerging eating difficulties, gender issues, sexual identity, high risk behaviours (including suicidal thoughts and self-harm), attachment difficulties, developmental trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, and developmental disorders. Dr Swinburne also has a special interest in working with Biological, Foster and both local and inter-country Adoption families around the impact of complex developmental trauma and abuse. She also has extensive experience working with children and their families who are engaged with the Children's Court and the Family Court. Dr Swinburne provides clinical supervision to practitioners at Melbourne Children’s Psychology Clinic, Ivanhoe. She also provides supervision to both general and clinical psychologists in a private capacity across a wide range of settings including private practice, CAMHS, Take Two, Secure Welfare, disability, the out-of-home care sector, and in rural and remote settings.

Gabrielle Connell

Gabrielle is a Senior Clinical Psychologist at MCPC with experience working in a range of settings in the public health sector, including Drummond Street Services, the Berry Street Take Two program and Monashlink Community Health Service as an ATAPS Clinician within the Primary Health Network. Gabrielle also worked as a Clinician with the Tune In Youth Counselling Service, which provided individual trauma focused therapy for children and adolescents affected by the 2009 bushfires. Gabrielle was the Senior Clinical Psychologist in a Perinatal service, within a hospital setting. In her role Gabrielle provided specialised psychological therapy to mothers, fathers and families in the perinatal and infancy stages. Gabrielle’s areas of special interest include mood related difficulties such as anxiety, depression, social anxiety and panic disorder; relational problems such as bullying, peer relationships, self-esteem issues, parenting and attachment; both chronic and single incident trauma related difficulties such as behavioural problems, post-traumatic stress disorder and self-harm. In addition, Gabrielle works in the specialist clinics within MCPC, providing assessment and treatment for Trichotillomania and Selective Mutism Gabrielle has experience in a range of therapy and treatment modalities tailored to the individual including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Mindfulness, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Narrative Therapy. Gabrielle has also been trained in the FOCUS (Freedom from Obsessions and Compulsions Using Skills) program for children with OCD. Gabrielle is also trained in the Circle Of Security parenting program, and the Watch Wait and Wonder intervention, both of which focus on building the attachment relationship between parents and their infants and toddlers. Gabrielle believes in the importance of working with a child in the context of their family, school and community. This systemic approach is necessary to help the child and their family to overcome the difficulties they are currently experiencing. Gabrielle endeavours to create a safe, caring and fun therapy space so that her clients can feel heard, understood and valued. Gabrielle is also a Board registered Supervisor.
