Dr Brooke Miegel

GP (General Practitioner)

Dr Brooke has bookings open for new and existing clients, without needing a referral. Dr Brooke has been an Ipswich local for 8 years. Brooke graduated from James Cook University in 2009, then worked in Townsville and Mt Isa for 5 years before relocating to South East Queensland with her family. Brooke has always been passionate about working with children and teens, and completed 3 years of paediatric training at the Queensland Children’s Hospital before jumping ship to rural GP training. Brooke now has a fellowship with ACRRM as a rural GP with advanced skills in paediatrics. When she isn’t wrangling your children, Brooke is wrangling her own. She has 3 children from pre-school to tween age, so you know her advice has been tried and tested in a real-life environment! She also has the best collection of fidget toys in the Southern Hemisphere* to keep little hands busy so you can concentrate during your child’s appointment. Outside of work hours Brooke spends her time with her husband, 3 children and geriatric beagle. They love exploring the great outdoors together, but she’s also a pro with indoor activities such as board games (and fidgets!). Brooke can’t wait to meet your young people and help with strategies to support you and your family in the journey forwards. (*not verified information)

Dr Katrina Sewell

GP (General Practitioner)

Dr Kate has bookings open for new and existing clients, without needing a referral. Dr Kate Sewell graduated from the University of Queensland in 2007, and went on to work for several years at the Ipswich Hospital including additional training in paediatrics and emergency medicine. She commenced GP training in 2014 after the birth of her twin girls, and was awarded a fellowship of the Royal Australia College of General Practice in 2017. She has enjoyed the daily challenge of working in “cradle to grave” general practice for nearly a decade, but 15 minute appointments were never really her style! Kate can’t wait to spend more time with longer appointments getting to know young people and their families. Coming from a neurodiverse family of four, Kate is passionate about identifying the positives about our special brains! While we might need some tips and tricks to perform to the best of our abilities in this crazy, modern world, people with ADHD and ASD also have special abilities that should be applauded. She will engage with children, their parents and other carers, teachers and allied health professionals to ensure we are doing the most we can to support them as they grow and learn. When she’s not at work, Kate can usually be found outside. She loves camping, hiking, skiing, horse-riding and kayaking with her family. She also plays the double bass and piano, and loves chilling with her rather large menagerie including dogs, cats, parrots, chickens and fish. When she can find the right pup, she can’t wait to have a therapy dog at work, so watch this space!
