I have over 10 years of experience as a psychologist and mentor. I’m an endorsed Counselling Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor with AHPRA. I have contributed research in the area of interpersonal neurobiology where I evaluated the link between emotions, relationships and brain development in young people through drawing assessments. I presented at the International Congress of Applied Psychology and have published work with the International Journal of Neuropsychotherapy. But that’s enough of my professional credentials, in case it’s not obvious, I am interested in all things to do with the brain and optimising the potential of our brain. I like the science of psychology. I do this with brain training and mental skills training, and have a special interest in working with individuals with performance orientated challenges such as motivation difficulties, perfectionism, and anxiety. But most importantly, I believe that anyone can benefit from psychological support and coaching. You don’t need to be ‘disordered’ to see a psychologist.
What you can expect when you work with me is that I consider the relationship between the mind, body and brain in my approach. I also strongly focus on the therapeutic relationship; you need to feel comfortable with your therapist in order to maximise your outcomes from the sessions.
I have a bit of first hand experience of what it is like to have to perform under pressure, from playing soccer throughout my childhood and adolescence, to preparing for university exams, to presenting in front of a large group, and currently keeping myself motivated to train for long distance running events. I believe that performing well under pressure is a skill that can be developed, and with the right psychological supports and coaching, an individual is capable of achieving their goals.
I am passionate about seeing others grow and enjoy providing training and supervision to provisional psychologists, supporting them on their journey to full registration as a psychologist. I can supervise 4+2 and 5+1 interns, masters placement students, and Counselling Psychologist registrars.
