Karina Farmers

Naturopath

Karina graduated in 2009 with a degree in naturopathy and nutrition (B. Health Science – Naturopathy) from SSNT in Melbourne, highly regarded as Australia’s longest standing natural medicine institution. Karina has always had an interest in human physiology and behaviour, first studying a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne (majors in Immunology and Psychology). Karina is an evidence-based practitioner with a passion for empowering people to understand their body and take control of their health. She combines your symptom presentation, health history and pathology testing to identify underlying causes for multi-system health concerns such as digestive issues, allergies, immune conditions, hormonal dysregulation and more. The gut-brain connection is now well accepted and provides a great example of multiple body systems being intrinsically linked i.e. the digestive system and the central nervous system, including the brain. This is why just thinking about food can encourage saliva production, and of more relevance to naturopathy, why an imbalance of microbes in the gut long term can cause mood disorders. Karina is eager to help share her skills and knowledge with the Ballarat community.
