Dr Sonia Zammit (She/her/hers) is a Clinical Psychologist and an advanced accredited schema therapist. Sonia works both with adults and youth (aged 16+). Sonia's commonly supports those working through complex and long term healing from Trauma, Addiction, Anxiety, Mood Difficulties and often complicated interpersonal relationships. Though she is experienced in supporting people with a range of challenges that affect their emotional and physical wellbeing.
Sonia values both evidence based frameworks and the importance of a safe and validating therapy relationship, working collaboratively based on each individual's needs and resources they bring. Working from a schema therapy framework, it offers options to integrate a number of other approaches including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, EMDR, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Sonia aims to develop a safe place where people can form a stronger sense of hope, confidence, and ability to make their own choices and take action to create change in their lives. She looks to assist people to improve their wellbeing based on their values and inner capacity for healing. Trauma informed principles and practices strongly underpin Sonia's treatment approach. Sonia is also following her passion to support the growing understanding how psychedelic assisted therapy can support people who have been on a long journey of healing within clinical research trials.
Dr Sonia Zammit is registered member and clinical supervisor with Psychology Board of Australia, Sonia is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and Clinical College and Australian Association of Psychologists.
Dr Sonia Zammit also enjoys supporting others clinicians specifically via training and supervision in Motivational Interviewing and is a Member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers.
