Dr Shammi Rajapakse is a consultant psychiatrist with a comprehensive academic background. He acquired his foundational medical degree and pursued a Master of Science in Public Health in Sri Lanka.
His professional journey advanced through rigorous training under the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), culminating in the attainment of fellowship in 2023.

Dr Rajapakse possesses an extensive and diverse background within the Australian healthcare system, accumulating rich experience since 2011 across both public and private sectors. His profound expertise spans various psychiatric subspecialties, prominently in acute adult services. Furthermore, he has made notable contributions in specialized areas including drug and alcohol services, geriatric psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, and custodial mental health services.
Dr Rajapakse possesses a distinct research focus in neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly emphasizing Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). His scholarly pursuits extend to investigating the impact of medical and mental health disorders on sleep patterns. Additionally, he delves into the neurobiological effects associated with stimulant medications and the use of illicit substances.
He is currently serving as a consultant psychiatrist in the public sector, Dr. Rajapakse plays pivotal roles beyond clinical practice. Personally, touched by the devastating impact of the Tsunami in Sri Lanka and deeply involved in the treatment and rehabilitation of individuals affected by decades of civil war in the region, he was inspired to pursue a career in mental health. Driven by a passion to enhance the well-being of those affected by unprecedented traumas, he actively supports and funds various organizations globally, dedicated to such causes.
