Dr Leah George Consultant Psychiatrist MBBS, FRANZCP, Cert Forensic Psych. Qualifications Dr George is an Australian-born Psychiatrist who grew up in Melbourne. After completing a Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) and working as a registered psychiatric nurse for 12 months, she went on to obtain a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery from Deakin University in Geelong, Victoria. Dr George is a proud Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and has completed advanced training in Forensic Psychiatry. Working Experience She has over 10 years of experience as a doctor in training with 6 of those years specializing in psychiatry. She also has a special interest in Women’s Mental Health. Dr George works 3 days per week at Thomas Embling Hospital, a high security mental health hospital in Melbourne, and has experience working with women both there and within the prison system. She has recently commenced private consulting for 2 days per week to broaden her horizons and has a keen interest in psychotic and mood disorders. Working with Mind Oasis, she hopes to bring her broad range of skills and experience to support those in need.
