Dr Kathy Rooney Psychologist

Kathy is a registered clinical psychologist with over seven years of university training: a Science Degree (with honours, majoring in Psychology) from the University of NSW, a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Masters degree from the University of Sydney. She has over 20 years counselling experience, has been employed by the University of Sydney to teach counselling skills to third year psychology students, and has supervised both TAFE and university students and experienced clinical psychologists. Kathy has worked in a variety of hospital settings, including the Cancer Care Centre at Gosford Hospital, as well as in private practice and for the Department of Health in a community setting. She has provided psychological therapy to a variety of people, ranging from the homeless to the CEO of a large public company and an Olympic gold medal winning athlete. Kathy is registered as a Clinical Psychologist by the Psychology Board of Australia and Medicare. She was previously on the Executive Committee of the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy (NSW) and is currently a member of it, the Anxiety Practitioners Network and The Australian Clinical Psychology Association (Founding member).
