Tom is an integrative counsellor who employs a person-centred approach in his sessions. His natural manner helps to build a genuine therapeutic relationship with his clients where relevant and insightful support can be given. Tom has a diverse background in youth mental health, education and crisis support services. He has also specialised in supporting men’s behaviour change and family counselling. Prior to counselling and community work Tom worked in the building and construction industry, artisan design and is a skilled Cabinet Maker by trade.
Tom’s desire and approach is geared towards helping individuals who are experiencing distress or are stuck in life. He seeks to help people on their journey through life and firmly believes in our human ability to improve our lives. Tom is experienced at recognising the conditions that will promote recovery and is committed to the journey.
Tom uses evidence based “here and now” approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy and additionally helps his clients work through past concerns. The mind is inseparable from the body. For this reason, Tom enjoys cycling and exercise. He values his relationships with his family and friends.
