Quincy is a Senior Podiatrist at Prince of Wales Hospital, managing the La Perouse Aboriginal Community Health Centre podiatry services. He also works in Calvary Hospital in Kogarah providing aged care-funded public podiatry services. Across both public hospitals and private practices, Quincy aims to help clients of all ages stay active and on their feet by assessing, diagnosing and treating foot and lower limb problems. Conditions that can be managed by a Podiatrist include skin conditions such as corn, callus, wart, cracked heels, and tinea; nail conditions such as thickened nail and ingrown toenails; foot and ankle injuries including foot and ankle pain, sprains and fractures; pain in the legs, knee, hip and back due to poor biomechanics of the feet; and problems with gait including flat and high arch feet, bunions, and other toe deformities; as well as paediatric foot conditions such as Sever’s Disease and Osgood-Schlatter’s Disease. Quincy also monitors, diagnoses and manages foot complications related to medical conditions such as diabetes, including performing the recommended biannual assessments of diabetic feet, and managing ulcers and other foot related complications. He has a special interest using a range of evidence-based interventions to manage lower limb conditions. In addition to the traditional skin and nail care techniques, Quincy also performs minor surgical procedures for the management of ingrown toe nails as well as local anaesthetic injections for management of certain painful conditions. He is also interested in the prescription and manufacturing of orthoses (shoe inserts) for the treatment of a range of foot related conditions, in conjunction with other therapies such as taping and exercise.
Further to his podiatry training, Quincy has also completed training as a diabetes educator, and is able to assist clients in self-managing their diabetes. In this role, he primarily works with clients with Type 2 Diabetes and pre-diabetes, helping clients understand the disease and their prescribed medications. He trains people with diabetes on the techniques in both monitoring their own blood glucose and with the administration of their own insulin. He is able to help clients make sense of their continuous glucose monitor and its reports, helping the client optimise their blood glucose management.
