VO2 max fitness test

We will take readings for resting BP, resting HR, height and weight. These details are required for accurate measurement of your true VO2 max. We will then fit our heart rate monitor to you and prepare you for the test by applying a breathing mask over your face.
Total test time will be approximately 20 minutes however this includes an 8-10 minute warm up. At commencement of the VO2 test you will start at a comfortable pace/power output and the treadmill or bike will increase incrementally every minute until we reach your absolute max.
Its important to note that at anytime during the test you can:
1 Indicate to us that you are unable to go any further
2 Jump and hold the rails on the treadmill while moving your feet to the outside
3 Hit the STOP button on the treadmill and it will very rapidly slow down
When you have stopped, please keep the mask on as we will need to collect your recovery data.
The main physiological profile data we will be assessing will be your ideal heart rate training zones (these change with training), your lactate threshold, your fats utilisation profile and of course your VO2 max.
